The Victorian Treasure Inn has put together the following
itinerary to help you make the most out of your visit to the Lodi/Madison
area. Whether you prefer hiking, bicycling, antique shopping, wine tasting,
skiing or dressing up for the Dinner Theater, the Lodi area truly has
something for everyone.

1-5 DAYS:

DAY ONE
Afternoon Refreshments, Victorian Treasure Inn
Have a beverage on the veranda after you settle into your room or romantic
suite, and regroup a bit from your journey. Tea, coffee, lemonade and/or
apple cider are always available.
Walking tour of Historic Homes in Lodi
Lodi features many restored Historic Homes from many different architectural
periods. A famous local architect-builder, Carl Menes designed and/or
built approximately 20 homes in Lodi. He is most famous for his Queen
Anne style homes. The homes are within walking distance of the Inn on
the self guided tour of Historic Homes of Lodi. Pick up your map in the
foyer of the Bissell Mansion at Victorian Treasure Inn.
Wisconsin Cheese and Wine Reception at Victorian Treasure
Inn (5:00-6:30pm)
Sample some of Wisconsin’s best cheese featuring Cheddar, Monterey
jack, Swiss, Gouda and Colby. We serve wines for your enjoyment in the
parlor of the Bissell Mansion or in the privacy of your room or private
patio. Also available is Lemonade or Hot Cider, depending on the season.
Walk or take a scenic drive to dinner
We have menus of local restaurants to choose from. When you make your
selection, let us know and we will happily make a reservation for you.
Many of the area’s finest restaurants are within a few miles of
the Inn.

DAY TWO
Breakfast at Victorian Treasure Inn
The Victorian Treasure Inn gourmet breakfast, starting with fresh fruit,
and entrees ranging from stuffed French toast, breakfast wraps to apple,
cinnamon pancakes, served with a breakfast meat and accompanied by just-baked
scones, muffins or bread will fortify you ready for your day of outings.
Ride
the Free Merrimac Ferry
Drive 6 miles to a free ferry which crosses Lake Wisconsin. See the beauty
of the Wisconsin River Valley from the ferry. Operates 24 hours a day.
Upon landing at the Merrimac crossing, follow highway 113 to Devil’s
Lake State Park. (Closed during the winter)
Hiking
or Biking at Devil’s Lake State Park
Take a short drive to Devil’s Lake State Park. Devil's Lake is Wisconsin's
premiere natural vacation destination! With spectacular views from 500
foot cliffs, miles of hiking trails, swimming areas including 2 large
sandy beaches, mountain bike trails, cross country ski trails, great climbs
and so much more.
Lunch in Baraboo
Visit our favorite spot for lunch in Baraboo, Java Café. This popular
stop features “American Cuisine in a San Francisco Style”.
Features pasta, southwestern and vegetarian selections.

Hike on Ice Age Trail (2-8
miles approximately)
Miles of trails meander through the hills, forests and fields of the Lodi
area. Enjoy the scenic beauty on the National Scenic Ice Age Trail. The
purpose of the Trail is to tell the story of the Ice Age and continental
glaciation along a scenic footpath. The Lodi leg of the trail passes right
in front of the Inn. Maps are available at the Inn.
Lunch at Willie’s and Teddy’s
Pause for lunch at a local favorite. Located next to Spring Creek, you
will be able to view the famous plaque and resting spot for Susie the
Duck. Read the history and see the creek that has made Susie the Duck
famous the world over.
Visit Slack’s Jam/Jelly Shop
Conveniently located just minutes from the Inn (on the way back from the
Ferry across Lake Wisconsin) is the local kitchen and gift shop of Slack’s
Jams. Slack’s is a treat to visit with countless varieties of homemade
jams and jellies. Featuring flavors from Blueberry-Cranberry to Pumpkin
Butter. Slack’s gift shop features all of the jams and jellies made
on site and antiques as well. A true local treasure.
Afternoon or Sunset Hike up Gibraltar Rock
End the afternoon with a short hike up Gibraltar Rock. There is a short
hike up a rock which you can watch the sun disappear into the valleys
and hills of the area.

DAY THREE
Breakfast at Victorian Treasure Inn
Travel to Mt Horeb
Scenic Mt Horeb is only 30 minutes from the Inn on scenic roads winding
through the beautiful Wisconsin countryside. Mt Horeb is known as the
“Troll Capital of the World,” in honor of the many carved
trolls that line Main Street. Mt Horeb is also known for its
world famous Mustard Museum, Little Norway and Cave of the Mounds.
Antique Shopping in Mt Horeb
You will find Mount Horeb to be an antique collector’s dream, with
numerous fine antique shops, gift shops and collector galleries all centered
on Main Street.

The Mount Horeb Mustard Museum is home of the world's largest collection
of prepared mustards - over 4,000 jars, bottles, and tubes from all 50
states and more than 60 countries.
Visit Little Norway
– Mt Horeb
Nestled in a beautiful valley twenty miles west of Madison, hidden in
the foothills of Blue Mounds WI. is a charming and unique outdoor museum
known as Little Norway. It has another, more romantic name which suggests
more vividly the sense of magic that pervades this lovely valley: Nissedahle,
or Valley of the Elves.
Go
underground in the Cave of the Mounds
– Mt Horeb
Discover the magnificent natural treasures and wonderful fun of the Cave
of the Mounds. Designated as a National Natural Landmark, the cave features
caverns with stalactites and stalagmites. A very fun tour and adventure

Start by checking out downtown Madison's "Museum Mile," six
museums and galleries offering something for everyone! Madison and the
surrounding communities also offer a host of wonderful galleries.
Wisconsin State Capital
Visit the Historic Wisconsin State Capital located in downtown Madison
on State St.
Lunch in Madison
Stop at one of the many fine eating establishments in Madison. Eat at
a café on the Terrace in Downtown or one of the other locations.
Ice Cream Stop at Babcock Hall
Visit the locally famous ice cream shop on the campus of the University
of Wisconsin. The Dairy Store on campus features home made ice cream featuring
numerous flavors with monthly specials as well. This ice cream is award
winning and delicious!
Walk along Madison Beach’s
One of the only cities built on an isthmus, the greater Madison area's
lakes provide water enthusiasts with a plethora of things to do. Visitors
can partake in a range of water sports. Maps and information are located
in the Madison Guide in each accommodation.

DAY FIVE
Early Morning Walk of historic residences
If you haven’t taken the historic homes walk around Lodi, now is
the time. A 30 – 90 minute walk (depending on route) around the
Inn on the surrounding residential streets. Also, be sure to visit Susie
the Duck in downtown Lodi.

Explore Spring Green and its many attractions
Spring Green is well known for three main attractions; American
Players Theatre - world class Shakespearean theatre in a natural amphitheatre;
Taliesin;
the home and school of Frank Lloyd Wright, recognized as the world's
greatest architect by the International Architecture Society and the incomparable
House on the
Rock.

Take a round on the golf course
Check with the innkeepers for the many gorgeous fairways in the area ranging
from manicured greens to winding, weaving courses, abundant with wildlife.
Afternoon
Eagle Viewing along Wisconsin River
In the spring, see beautiful Eagles fly and nest along the Wisconsin River
just 12 miles from the Inn.

In-room massage or sit on one of the porches at
the Inn and enjoy the gardens.
